This week we’ve been checking out Porth-en-halls House at Prussia Cove, a Wedding venue in Cornwall that we’ll be shooting Thomas and Aimee’s Wedding in June. It’s a long way from London but worth every bit the journey.
There is nothing ordinary about Porth-en-halls and the Prussia Cove bay area. It’s is an unspoilt, privately owned family estate on overlooking the Atlantic on the South West coast of Cornwall. A magical place, harking back to the days of wrecking and smuggling. It is said that there is a secret smugglers tunnel right up to the village from the beach! The surroundings are fantastically picturesque. Granite fishing huts are built into the sides of the cliff next to the sea – several private beaches and inlets. No cafes or ice cream kiosks. It is so pretty that scenes from Ladies in Lavendar with Judi Dench and Maggie Smith were filmed in the cottages.
The couple have made arrangements for all of their guests to stay either in the main house or the surrounding cottages. The house has a rustic charm, the long dining hall has an enormous potential for beautiful hanging decorations and printed bunting. Tea lights and lanterns could be hung from the patios and large balconies, which would make for a stunning backdrop for the photographs. The couple have planned to use personalised wedding signs from Not On The Highstreet to direct the guest around the large house and fisherman’s cottages in the grounds. This is a great wedding venue with coastal Cornish charm and you can really make it your own.
